Changes since 68 in CH/UH
Posted Wednesday, March 14, 2018 05:36 PM

With our 50th reunion coming up, I was thinking about the physical changes in our suburbs. Two of my kids live in CH so I visit and can’t believe the change. If you live in the area, add to my list. If not, read about them.

We know about the high school losing the front side addition. What happened to the “girls” gym and pool? Fairfax elementary was torn down and a new one built. Fairfax road no longer connects to Lee. Roxboro Rd between the elementary and JR high is gone. Coventry elementary is closed and I hear may be torn down. Is Roosevelt closed?

Cedar Center has been completely redone and is actually easier to drive through than in 68!!  It has a Whole Foods. There is a parking garage and Target where the May Company store was at Cedar/Warrensville. A big Walmart is on Warrensville north of Cedar Center where a golf course used to be. Lee Road near the high school is loaded with restaurants/stores and the parking lot across Cedar from the high school has a parking garage. Is that a walkway over Lee rd at the library? No more YMCA where we had junior high “canteens” on Friday night. I used to ride my bike along Lee to Cumberland pool-don’t know that I’d do that now.

What else???

Drove around the back of the high school a couple weekends ago and couldn’t believe all the “new” building there.  I had never heard they put additions on the back of the school.  Anybody know what is inside those areas?
