So hard to believe. So hard to accept. Joel was one of the few people that seemed to make everyone comfortable around him. He had a great, subtle sense of humor and just seemed to fit in anywhere. I had many occassions in classes and on the track team to get to know Joel. He will be missed....

I can barely remember anyone from High School, but for some reason when I saw the picture that Joel passed,  I immediately remembered sitting behind Joel in some class and tapping him on the shoulder.  I was stressed because I needed a pencil for a test and he was very nice to me and gave me one.  Funny the things we remember.  Sorry I never got to know him better, but he really helped me out that day.  Sounds like a wonderful man.
