I had the opportunity of playing baseball, football and basketball with Howard mostly at Cain Park for entire summers. He was a great athlete and really just a wonderful guy. We stayed in touch in college, and it is a shame he was taken so early in life. In sports, he was really competitive, but once the game was over, he was a good friend. A truly great guy.
