Tara Mae Beres Obituary
Mae Beres (Friedman), also known to many as “T”, Tarable, Mama, Mom, Grandma, and Mama Bear to those who knew and loved her best, lost her battle with cancer on Monday, March 24th, 2025. She was preceded in death by her soul mate and best friend, her Billy. She is survived by her 3 children, Kurt (Danielle), Kelly and Kimberly (Colin), her sisters, Joanne, Shari (Steve), and Lissa (Bill), and the joy of her retirement, her 6 grandkids. In life, she basked in the love and adoration of her family. Quick to smile, finding joy, and always willing to lend a hand to family or friends. Tara lit up every room she entered. She loved to tease people with a riddle that she was born in the Continental United States but not in any of the 50 states and even though our nation’s capital shared many happy memories, Cleveland was her home. It was there, growing up that down the street, she first met Billy, where they became best friends at Belvoir Elementary School. She later attended Cleveland Heights High School and graduated from the University of Cincinnati. In addition to being born in our nation’s capital, and growing up in University Heights outside Cleveland, Tara lived in New York City, NY, Newburgh, IN, Bainbridge, OH but lastly called New Albany, OH home. During her career, her most memorable stops were with Cleo Orthopedics and Progressive Insurance, where she eventually retired from in 2021. Tara loved to spend time with family, play cards, and travel. She loved Wendy’s Frostys, probably born from her father’s love of ice cream. Weekend adventures were a mainstay in the Beres household and often included car rides to Geneva on the Lake, Conneaut, Niagara Falls and many others. Later in life, she found comfort and love in her son in law Colin and her daughter-in-law, Danielle. After her Billy passed, she moved to the Columbus area to be close to family. She welcomed her 6th grand child, cherished time with her fur babies and regularly cheered her grandchildren on in fencing, soccer, and attended as many choir, band and school events as she could. She was often traveling, visiting friends back in Cleveland and Florida, often on adventures with her BFF Jeannie and visiting family in California. She began going on vacations with her kids and friends to Disney, Nemacolin, Florida, and Alaska. There was no adventure too small. She had a full life that was taken too quickly. To say she will be missed by many is an understatement. Tara’s wishes included a celebration of her life, in lieu of a funeral to be held on June 28th in Cleveland.

I only knew Tara casually in High School but I remember clearly she was a warm, friendly person and easily approachable. Very sorry she is gone.
