Donna Newman (Zwingler)

Donna Newman (Zwingler)

Donna Lee Newman Zwingler, 75, passed away on February 20, 2026, in Delaware, OH.

Born on October 1, 1950, in Cleveland, OH, Donna was the daughter of the late James Newman and Barbara Murphy Newman. Donna is survived by her three daughters: Laurie Lynn Dunham and her husband Jamey of Ohio, along with their children, Sam and Zoey; Holly Michelle Kane and her husband Michael of North Carolina, along with their daughters, Faith and Nia; and her youngest daughter, Kristen Abby Zwingler, of North Carolina. She is also survived by her two brothers, Gary Newman and his wife Kathy, and their children, Matt, Jackie, and Chad; and Chris Newman and his wife Nancy. Donna attended Cleveland Heights High School and then Kent State University, where she majored in Fashion Merchandising. She enjoyed sewing and making some clothing for her daughters when they were young. After staying home to raise her children for many years, Donna later taught preschool and worked with her brothers at the family’s outdoor sporting goods store, Newman Outfitters. She loved reading, walking, and the outdoors. In her younger years, she enjoyed rollerblading, hiking, and sunny days on Sanibel Island. Donna had a wonderful sense of humor and appreciated life’s simple pleasures, including Coke floats, warm weather, and a good book. She also had a special love for animals, especially dogs, which brought her great happiness. Donna will be remembered for her warm and independent spirit, her desire to help others, her humor, strength, and the kindness she showed to those around her. Her memory remains with her family and the friends who shared in her life.

I am so saddened to hear the news of Donna's passing. Our friendship goes back years from our days as Brownies.  Her mom was our troop leader! Donna was full of fun and laughter always. I remember her so well from her days as a cheerleader at Roosevelt. To her wonderful family, some of whom I also remember, please accept my sincere condolences.

I met Donna through scouting.  I still have fond memories of a scout encampment we both attended.  I think that Donna broke her wrist the first night during a storm, rain continued for 5 days yet with Donna's vibrant energy and laughter we all had a great time. I know that she will be missed so much. Her girls were lucky to have such a  wonderful person as their mother.

Condolences to the family. I went to Jr High and High School with Donna. Although I didn't know her well I always thought she was a nice person. Got to know her a little from summer days spent at Cumberland Park and pool. Rest in peace.

Such sad news. She lived right down the street from me. The Newman family was such a great group. Donna, Gary and Chris were all fun, even-tempered role models for all of us. My heartfelt condolences to her family.

I only knew Donna casually, but she always had a pleasant smile and a hello as we passed in the halls. Very sad. Condolences to her family.

I'm so sad to hear about Donna we were in Mrs. Schultz's homeroom. A232. I remember I walked her home,  one day developed a crush on her. She was sooo cute.

I was also in Donna's homeroom and sat next to her. Always so pleasant and friendly.
