
Rochelle Rubin Nyer, aged 74, passed away on November 22, 2024, in Cleveland, after a three-year battle with ALS. Born on September 30, 1950, Shellie dedicated over 40 years to her career as a speech-language pathologist, specializing in diagnosing and assisting children and their families. Known for her kindness and generosity, she cherished time spent with her family and friends. Shellie played a significant role in her community as a board member of Milestones Autism Resources for over 10 years, helping to plan the organization’s annual innovative conference. Her commitment to service and community betterment was evident through her actions and involvement. She leaves behind a loving family: her husband of almost 54 years, Mark Nyer; daughters Rabbi Shoshana Nyer and Deena Nyer Mendlowitz; grandchildren Rafi Mendlowitz and Emily Langel; brothers Dr. Marc Rubin (Dr. Julie) and Eric Rubin (Laura); and her “Big Sis” Dr. Suzi Krock Mandel (Dr. Marty). She was preceded in death by her parents, Myron and Adelaide Rubin (Chakoff). Services will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 25 at Berkowitz-Kumin–Bookatz at 1985 S. Taylor Road in Cleveland Heights. Interment to follow at Mount Olive Cemetery. Shiva will be held following interment until 8 p.m. at Suburban Temple Kol Ami at 22401 Chagrin Blvd. in Beachwood. The family will also observe shiva from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 26 and 27 at the home of her daughters, 30499 S. Woodland Road in Pepper Pike.
