We were informed by Donald Abrams today that Barbara died in her home in Sarasota, Florida on December 23, 2013. We will add more information when it becomes available. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.
So sorry to hear of Barbara's passing! We were the "two Barbaras" in classes together, all the way through Fairfax, Roxboro, and Heights. I loved the twinkle in her eye and her easy laughter. My love and prayers to her family. Both my brothers had her mom for first grade. My sibs and I were just together today for the holidays, and they all send their love.
Barbara Sarkin was my best friend throughout junior high and hgh school. She came over to my house the day sixth grade ended, we sat in my driveway and talked and giggled, and we never stopped. She could always make me laugh, and she had an indescribable laugh herself. There was a well-worn path from my house, down the cinder path, to her house, and I still walk it when I am in Cleveland. The world is darker without her, and I will miss her forever.
I would run into Barbara from time to time when she lived in Philadephia some years ago. While I did not know her well, she was always friendly, outgoing and invariably cheerful. Her passing, like the loss of so many of our classmates,is a deeply moving and sad experience. My condolences to her family and friends-she was clearly a dear person who will be greatly missed.
