Ron Weiskind

Ron graduated from Case Western Reserve University in 1972. He was an entertainment critic and movie editor for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He died of liver failure at 54. He was predeceased by his wife, Ida. He is survived by his children, Timothy and Rebecca.

I remember Ron from Cleveland Heights High, but also remember what he did as a college newspaper writer at Case Western Reserve University.  When the two schools merged, they intially maintained their separate sports programs, especially football, so Case still played Western Reserve.  Ron combined the two scores and headlined the article with "CWRU 34 Others 0.  How can you lose when you play with yourself?"   That article then generated the slogan "the school that plays with itself."  That led to pressure to have one sports program not two.  That was the clever mind of Ron.
