So sorry to hear about Emily's passing. We spent some time at the reunion in October, recalling people we knew in common, her late uncle Jules who was a neighbor in University Heights and the "old" days. She was a very gentle soul and I was thrilled to have interacted with her at the event.May she rest in peace.

I knew Bob quite well in our younger years-we lived on the same street and were partners in crime in Belvoir and Wiley. He was a great guy and a good friend. Sadly,as sometimes happens, we took different paths in life and lost touch over the many years. No particular reason, it just happened.

Since about 2013, a number of us resumed a tradition started by our fathers and grandfathers of going to the Schvitz on a Friday night in October. Located at 116th and Kinsman, it is a unique experience of  gathering in  a facility built in 1927 and bonding over steam and steaks. Not for everyone but for those of us who journey to Cleveland each year, it is an extraordinary time. At one such visit (pre pandemic /not sure of the year), I was in the steam room and struck up a conversation with someone about what a unique experience the Cleveland schvitz presented. We talked about visiting the location with our fathers when we were children, about growing up in Cleveland, about( in my case) leaving the city and living elsewhere but periodically visiting Cleveland and visitng the schvitz. The gent then asked me where I grew up-University Heights. So did he. Where did I go to School-Belvoir-Wiley-CHHS.So did he. What street did I live on? University Parkway. So did he. It turns out that I was having a 25 minute conversation with Bob Mittleman and neither he nor I immediately recognized one another until we connected the dots. It had to have been 50 years since Iast spoke with Bob but the coincidence was amazing- a true "only in Cleveland" moment. He was still the same friendly, interesting and interested person. Tough to catch up on 50 years but it was wonderful to see him and have some laughs after so many, many years.

I am sorry he is. gone. He was obviously a wonderful father and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace bro'-you were some kind of dude!

Although I had not seen Lila in many years, she was always a kind, gracious and decent person. So sorry she has left us-may she rest in peace!

I did not know Wendy well but in my contacts with her she was always friendly, funny and kind. It is so sad as we watch our classmates, whether we knew them well or not, whether we had continuing contact with them or not, pass from our midst. These passages are inevitable for all of us but the sorrow is palpable. My sincere condolences to Wendy's family and may she rest in eternal peace.

Had not seen Robert for many years since we graduated from HHS but I clearly remember him as good person with a kind sense of humor. RIP Robert-your life accomplishments sound absolutely amazing as you knew what was important and lived accordingly. Condolences to your family-a good person has left them but the joyous memories remain forever.

Agreed Jerry. Frank was a good guy in HS and I am quite certain that he remained so for the balance of his days. My condolences to his family-may he rest in peace.

Ernie was always a friendly, decent and kind person. I remember him well from both Wiley and Heights High. My enduring memory of Ernie from high school is seeing him zip around Univerisity Heights as a delivery person for Berger and Silver Jewelers when they were located in Cedar Center. I was impressed that a contemporary could actually get a job where you could drive around in a cool station wagon and listen to the radio all day. And get paid. Have not seen Ernie in years but very sorry to hear of passing. My condolences to his family on their loss-may he rest in peace.

So sorry to hear about Mardele-she was a neighbor when were in junior high school. She was always a kind person with a great sense of humor. When we were in the 8th grade at Wiley, Mark Wachter and I put together a skit for our friend Richard Schwartz who was running for president or vice president of the student council. The skit was patterned after the Huntley-Brinkley nightly news show and was fairly elaborate. I  enlisted Mardele to be a "person on the street" who would be interviewed by a make believe reporter about her vote for Richard. I remember Mardele's reaction when I described the scenario to her-she gave me a look that relfected that she thought i was completely nuts but since it sounded like fun(it was) she was completely in . Richard lost the election but we had a great time doing the skit. Mardele, when I knew her, was irreverant, smart and a thoroughly nice person-devoid of pretense. We lost touch over the years but I have very fond memories of good person.Rest in peace Mardele.

I knew John in our much younger years-he lived on Miramar/Washington Boulevard. He was a frequent visitor to Bill Schur's home and was always a kind, decent and fun kid who was always up for a great time. As we got older, we did not keep in contact-for no particular reason-our lives just went in different directions. I have wonderful memories of John in our elementary school years and extend my condolences to his family and friends.
