I taught for a short time in Cleveland City Schools after graduating with a degree in biology from Cleveland State and then worked for the City of Cleveland. I relocated to Washington, DC in 1979 to attend graduate school at American University. Upon receiving my degree, I was awarded a Presidential Management Fellowship from the federal government, which included working for Congressman Louis Stokes (Ret.)
After ten years, I joined a national energy association and served as lobbyist on environmental issues. I returned to the federal government and worked for NASA until my retirement in December, 2012. Outside of work, I served as a civic association president for 7 years and got involved on 2 state level political campaigns.
In retirement, I teach at the University of North Carolina Asheville College for seniors. I serve on county Board of Adjustment and Land conservation Advisory Board and still work on political campaigns
My wife and I purchased a log home on a mountain slope that is 4 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway.
